Areas affected...North Texas

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 348...

Valid 091849Z - 092015Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 348
continues.

SUMMARY...Thunderstorms capable of damaging winds and isolated large
hail will continue to spread south-southeastward across north Texas
including the Metroplex through mid-afternoon.

DISCUSSION...A well-organized and relatively compact MCS continues
to maintain its integrity as it progresses south-southeastward at
around 35 kt early this on the north edge of the Metroplex as of 130
PM CDT. Denton TX had a measured 52 kt wind gust around 1257 PM CDT,
with a more recent 62 kt wind gust (138 PM CDT) measured at Dallas
Love Field. Damaging winds will remain likely these storms, and more
so, the gust front that precedes these storms by several miles (10
miles in some cases). These storms will continue to favor the
instability gradient south-southeastward along and parallel to the
I-35 East/I-45 corridors where additional mid-level convection
precedes these storms. Wind-driven large hail is also a possibility,
particularly with evidence of embedded/hybrid-supercell type
characteristics.

Otherwise, additional storm development farther to the west will
become increasingly likely through mid/late afternoon as inhibition
continues to erode.
