Areas affected...Portions of central Montana

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 356...

Valid 142239Z - 150045Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 356
continues.

SUMMARY...Threat for isolated large hail and severe wind gusts
remains across WW #356 for the next few hours.

DISCUSSION...Latest radar trends indicate that the long-lived
supercell thunderstorm, which produced several large to very large
hail and severe wind gusts across Teton/Pondera County, has quickly
weakened and shrunk in size over the past 20 minutes or so as it
moved into Judith Basin County. Aside from this storm, robust
convection has been difficult to sustain over the past hour, perhaps
owing to relatively limited MLCAPE over the area (e.g., 500-1000
J/kg). However, the presence of 40 knots of effective bulk shear
over the area suggests that there remains some potential for
periodic isolated strong updrafts -- and associated isolated
instances of large hail and damaging winds -- over the next few
hours before boundary layer stabilization ensues.
