Areas affected...Portions of eastern Georgia and southeast South
Carolina

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 689...

Valid 312234Z - 312330Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 689
continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for damaging wind gusts continues across WW689.
The area across coastal South Carolina is being monitored for a
possible downstream watch extension.

DISCUSSION...Regional radar data shows a north-to-south broken line
of thunderstorms moving eastward at around 30-40 kts across Severe
Thunderstorm Watch 689. The environment ahead of the line is
characterized by MLCAPE near 1000-1500 J/kg and effective bulk shear
values near 50 knots. Strong low/mid-level flow (e.g., 50 knots at 2
km from KCLX VAD) will continue to support the possibility of
damaging wind gusts with the strongest storms. The optimal window
for strong/severe storms will be over the next few hours (e.g.,
22-01Z) before forcing for ascent -- associated with a mid-level
shortwave trough -- shifts away from the area to the northeast.
Thereafter, a gradual weakening trend in thunderstorm intensity is
expected.

The area downstream of WW689 across the coastal areas of South
Carolina will continue to be monitored for a possible watch
extension.
