Areas affected...Portions of central MS

Concerning...Tornado Watch 708...

Valid 292136Z - 292230Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 708 continues.

SUMMARY...A small corridor of relatively greater wind and isolated
tornado potential should exist across parts of central Mississippi
over the next hour or so.

DISCUSSION...21Z surface analysis shows a meso-low just northeast of
Jackson, MS. Surface winds at KJAN have veered from from
southeasterly to south-southwesterly over the past hour as this low
continues to develop northeastward along a front. Still, the VWP
from KDGX shows a rapidly strengthening wind profile in the low
levels, with 55 kt of 0-3 km shear proving more than adequate for
storm organization. A small bowing cluster currently extending from
the Jackson metro northeastward will likely contain a relatively
greater near-term threat (next hour or so) for isolated damaging
winds and perhaps an embedded tornado given its proximity to the
meso-low and a weak, but still sufficiently unstable airmass
downstream.
